Organizations commonly face great challenges in leveraging relevant internal and external data to harvest its value. In this context, Big Data Analytics (BDA) technology was created to quickly deal with voluminous and diverse data. Cloud computing helped software as a service BDA companies grow their market to na estimated 130 billions dollars. These companies use agile methods to conceive new applications and launch them in a fast, organized manner, while ensuring that it adresses their clients needs. This case study analyzes how a SaaS technology company based in Rio de Janeiro employed some of these methodologies (Lean software development, Scrum and User Stories) in creating and delivering business analytics software. The company s product team were observed and the information obtained then compared with the principles of those methods to understand the level of adhesion to the best practices in literature. Results showed a overall high level of fidelity to each of these three methods. In addition, some adaptations were noticed, in order to suit this knowledge to the company s reality. The company s practices are well aligned to the industry state of the art, possibly contributing to the acheivement of outstading results in the research period.
