This paper deals with the discursive construction in medical consultations held in outpatient adolescents in a public hospital in Rio de Janeiro. It specifically focuses on the query of a 14 year old, with various forms of stigma, including a picture of mental retardation. Located in Applied Linguistics, the research is based on studies of Interactional Sociolinguistics and Conversational Analysis of Narrative. It examines the way in which the participants of the interaction (patient, physician, companion / mother, and resident researcher) deal with the stigmas of the patient that are present in the query. The concepts of stigma and deviation are also part of the analysis. During the interaction it was observed that the doctor, in the exercise of her power in the conduction of the session, opens the possibility of having mother and patient tell stories and introduce their own topics and health issues. It was also observed the doctor makes use of various resources (repetitions, reformulations), both to deal with the cognitive deficits and to manage reactions to possible differences (cultural, social class) related to social norms and behaviors that the patient and mother bring to the consultation. Among other sensitive issues that emerge in the consultation is the sexual life of patients and their exposure to contagious diseases. In this context, too, it was found that much of the interactional work of the patient and his mother went to build a favorable image of both: the narratives that tell the patient emerges as a normal teenager and the mother as a person of good character and moral standing. With this study, I intend to provide a contribution to a policy of humanization of health care, since the analyses indicate the possibility of, in medical consultation, not only a careful listening of the health professional, but also a space for patients and families submit your questions.
