The present dissertation has as main objective is to analyze the relationship between Brazilian Baptist missionaries and the diversity of Mozambican knowledge during missions carried out by the World Mission Board of the Brazilian Baptist Convention. In Mozambique between 1970 and 2010, a context marked mainly bynationalism, civil war / socialism and democracy / eoliberalism. The purpose of thiswork it was showed different narratives and discourses results of these historicalexperiences. From the installation of the first mission in the decade 1970 to 2010, theinteractions between the Baptist missionaries and the Mozambicans were interspersedby discourses of coloniality and intercultural outlines. In the early years, Mozambicanknowledge was seen as a threat to the construction of the post-independence politicalproject, marked by the ideal of New Man, that is, by building an identity based oncultural homogeneity. The knowledge of African societies was then linked to theessentialist and stereotyped conceptions, almost always, postulated by epistemic racism. Starting in 1994, there is the emergence of democracy and a new narrative, which combines appreciation of difference and tolerance, is elaborated, expanding the paradoxes and antagonisms between Christian and non-Christian knowledge.
