Resumo:
This thesis aimed to investigate the perception of psychotherapists regarding online psychotherapeutic processes with families. To this end, a qualitative research was conducted in which 13 family and couple psychotherapists from Brazil, each with at least 10 years of clinical experience, were interviewed. The results were analyzed according to the content analysis method in its categorical aspect. From the analyses conducted, nine categories of analysis emerged: the pandemic - how to adapt to online psychotherapy? online psychotherapy: adjustment of the in person care or a new form of care? Is anything possible online? the place of therapy; privacy; new elements of interpretation; rituals of displacement; rituals of arrival/departure and reception; what can be perceived through the screen? and presence without a body: it is there, but there are requirements. For the purpose of presenting the results, this thesis was developed in four articles. The first focused on investigating the family psychotherapist s perception of the unexpected transition to online therapy in the pandemic context. The second aimed to discuss the therapeutic framework in the online environment. The third article aimed to analyze the rituals of the therapeutic process in the online environment. Finally, the fourth aimed to investigate physical absence and the therapeutic relationship in the online environment. The results indicated that the transition to online care during the pandemic led to greater vulnerability for professionals and a greater loss of control over the setting in the online environment. In this regard, the psychotherapist was considered to be responsible for providing a therapeutic environment for the process to be effective. The use of certain technical resources also proved to be a challenge. However, having some prior experience with online sessions influenced the lesser difficulty encountered in this transition. Furthermore, the perception of losses in therapeutic rituals, considered important for the process, led to adaptations of these rituals for the online environment. The reports also pointed to new forms of interaction explored by psychotherapists for them to be present and connect emotionally with patients in the online space. However, they informed that they put a greater effort to convey an empathetic connection and capture the communication of the patients. In this sense, facial expressions were considered fundamental to understanding the patients. Finally, significant advantages were mentioned by the interviewees, such as the new information and possibilities available in the patients natural environment. Moreover, in some cases, they benefited from the online space, feeling more protected. Additionally, the benefits of convenience, practicality, and reach gained in the online environment were highlighted.
