Amidst the recently growing attention and importance that poetry is gaining in the Studia Kantiana there is a hidden influence on Kant that this thesis unveils: Alexander Pope s presence throughout Kants life and the influence of his Essay on Man on Kant s philosophy. The claim that Kant s self-promoted philosophical plan has Pope s design and that the poem Essay on Man is Kant s hidden Leitmotiv in unfolding it is endorsed with direct text references and the confirmation of the poems core ideas as not only present but utterly integrated in Kant s philosophy. After the design s reinforcement of Kant s self-proclaimed philosophical project to better oneself and humanity, which we prove to occur through limiting pride due to respect, the thesis affirms love s ontological status based on a popean reading of Kant s oeuvre as a progressive, continuum and interconnected whole based on a plan to combat human s pride epistemically, morally and aesthetically almost as if Kant s work is an alchemical process of purification of the vivid forces that we are in order to manifest our liberty within. The thesis reveals its anthropological impact: an Übergang from the self to the whole – to confirm the Great Perfection of life and to value experience on this pale blue dot, especially in the Anthropocene. On Kant s 300th anniversary the thesis proves his atemporal value as a lighthouse for humanity that advises us that the true enlightenment is more needed than ever.
