Blogging platforms became popular worldwide starting in the 1990s, widely used as spaces for personal expression, social connection, customization, and hobby exploration. In these digital environments, individuals built autobiographical spaces, shaping texts, photos, titles, names, and interactions that characterized the blog as a unique format. In the 21st century, websites such as Orkut and Facebook, among others, rose to prominence. But with advances in technological development, Instagram emerged as a key platform focused on the consumption, creation, and distribution of photos and videos. This research seeks to examine how users known as content creators on that social network use their spaces to produce, edit, and publish media that shape their profile on the platform. The main object of study is the image-based artifact, approaching it through the lens of visual culture, a central concept in this modern context. The study aims to present an analysis of the narratives formed in the process of identity construction within online environments. In other words, it seeks to understand how images are created, how profiles are developed, and how narratives of the self are assembled and expressed on Instagram. The research also considers the platform not only as a company but as a space of social exchange, shaped by autobiographical performances carried out through media that are created, edited, and strategically organized. To support this investigation, the study draws on the work of theorists such as Baudrillard, Debord, McLuhan, Hall, Goffman, and Arfuch, among others. It also includes analyses of various Instagram profiles, focusing specifically on the content creator type. A range of analytical methodologies is employed, including image analysis, discourse analysis, and approaches from sociology, anthropology, and communication studies, along with a comprehensive literature review. Thus, the research introduces and conceptualizes the idea of life expansion, a fictionalizing autobiographical practice carried out through visual resources on the web.
