This research seeks, within the feminine representations of the mythical figures of Helen of Troy, Medea, Eve, and Lilith, to identify fragments that persist in the construction of femininity in Western patriarchal societies. These characters will also be considered as faces, facets, semblances and vestiges of what has infiltrated and continues to proliferate in the shaping of women s bodies in contemporary times. By reflecting on figurations that traverse an era, a text and a social organization (Ancient Greece and its myths), these four narratives - underlying myths and ancient texts - can be viewed as fertile producers of specific imaginaries that, as tools and technologies of the self, shape many different social practices. Thus, this study aims to delineate these imaginaries and the technologies that serve to strengthen patriarchy, drawing inspiration from mythical semblances that at times construct feminine ideals of submission, beauty, and passivity; at other times, they reveal forces of transgression and refusal to submit to the male order.
