The Care Economy has become an increasingly prominent topic in public debates. In this dissertation, we analyze the Care Economy with a focus on unpaid domestic work, which is present in most Brazilian households and is predominantly carried out by women and girls. We employ Social Reproduction Theory and an intersectional perspective to examine and contextualize the invisibility of this work in society and, simultaneously, its exploitation by Capital. We analyze the consequences of this exploitation on the physical and mental health of these women and girls and claim their right to care. The inclusion of the theme of Spirituality arises from the understanding that it is a dimension of human existence and that it, too, suffers under the burden of care to which women and girls are subjected. Finally, we propose a Christian spirituality rooted in justice, compassion, and the praxis of Jesus Christ to offer liberation to these women and girls. The beginning of this transformation lies in rejecting the romanticization of their suffering, understanding that care is a place of the Spirit and, therefore, must be present to humanize care dynamics and promote a Christ like attitude of foresight and relief from the burdens placed upon women and girls. In doing so, we aim to foster holistic life and health for women and girls.
