This paper investigates the repercussions of the Covid 19 pandemic on therelationships of families receiving psychotherapy. To that end, we conducted aqualitative clinical research based on reports of family psychotherapy sessions witheigth families belonging to the lower-middle and lower income segments of the Riode Janeiro population, who were treated at the SPA (acronym in Portuguese forapplied psychology service) of the university where the research was developed.The results were analyzed using the content analysis method according to itscategorization. From these analyses, five categories emerged: family coexistenceduring the pandemic and its subcategories; lack of differentiation and conflicts, and(re)discovering my child; remote care and its subcategories, body on the screen andplaying in zoom mode; emotional experiences during the pandemic; parentificationand emotional support, and gender and parentification. For purposes of presentingthe research results, this paper was divided into four articles. In the first, weinvestigated the impacts of confinement resulting from Covid 19 on thedynamics of the relationship between parents and children. The results revealed thatthe intense coexistence promoted by confinement heightened some conflicts of theparent child dynamics, but also strengthened bonds and provided more parent childtime. In the second, we studied the specifics of the therapy setting for the remotecare of families during the pandemic. We found that, despite the obstacles, thereare many possible ways to practice remote care. This modality requirespsychotherapists to adapt so that body and play are included in the virtualenvironment. In the third article, we investigated the impacts of the Covid 19pandemic on the emotional experience of vulnerable family members. We observedhow social inequality interfered with how these families experienced the pandemicperiod. Clinical data pointed to a relation between illness and the precariousnessexperienced by the subjects during that period. In the fourth article, we analyzedthe repercussions of parenting on the dynamics of the relationship between mothers and daughters receiving psychotherapy during the pandemic. The results suggested that gender roles and generational transmission have a significant impact on the parentification process. Overall, we concluded that Covid-19 had many effects on family relationships and the practice of family psychotherapy. The pandemic experience, common to all, but experienced in different ways by many, transformed the world and separated it into before and after.
