ROOT LOCUS PLOT
| INTRODUCTION |

The Root Locus Plot is a graphical method to draw the trajectories of the roots of a polynomial on the complex plane when a parameter varies. The places of the roots on the complex plane indicate the stability of systems according to different stability criteria. This method is used for closed loop systems and it allows to draw the places that the roots of a polynomial as functions of a varying parameter of the system implementation. The computation of the closed loop transfer function is not necessary as long as the open loop transfer function is known. Since it draws the trajectories of the roots on the complex plane, it can be used for both continous and discrete time systems. The critical regions are diferent though.

The simulations of the Root Locus Plot are performed online and in real time usin Scilab (https://www.scilab.org/). Scilab is connected to the Maxwell System so that it executes its functions using this system as its front end to the Internet.
